Tom Olin's blogFootnote.com offers free Revolution War documents - limited time only!I received e-mail today from Footnote.com, which provides copies of historical documents for a price, much like Ancestry.com. Until July 7, you can access their Revolutionary War Collection for free. As with Ancestry.com, you can join Footnote.com for free, but you need to pay to get access to their complete collection. Here's the message:
Two Departed GentlemenI am saddened to have learned, over the last several days, of the passing of two OLIN cousins.
NEWS FLASH! NY/PA Reunion Location Change!Ken Olin reports from the scene:
Account Creation ProblemI just discovered a number of new account requests that are blocked, pending approval by an administrator (me). These requests date back as far as a few months. For some reason, I was not receiving them. I have to figure out why and fix the problem. I will attempt to work through the backlog of pending requests ASAP. If I don't recognize a username or e-mail address, I might need to follow-up to verify lineage. That's why I recommend that people use their real names as their usernames. Besides, doing so facilitates dialog among site users.
Meeting AgendaPlease add agenda items for our upcoming Council meeting by posting a comment below.
Site UpdateAt long last, I've made a change to the site that should prevent warning messages about the site security certificate. If you still observe warnings about the site certificate, or if you encounter unexpected new behavior that might have resulted from the change, please let me know.
Newsletters are out!The spring issue of The OLINews is finally in the mail for all paid members, and the electronic version is available for those signed up for it. If you want to sign up, see our Services page. Thanks to Ruth Ellis for preparing it and thanks to our several contributors who provided the content. The delay was primarily mine.
Reunion UpdatesBe sure to check out our Reunions page for recent updates, including a June reunion in Las Vegas being organized by cousins on the Minnesota (Ruth Ellis') branch.
Blog away!I have granted permission to all authenticated users to blog on this site. As this is a Family site, use common sense and good judgment with your posts, but please do post. Go!
