Priorities (HB #38)

I have slacked on creating the Biographical Sketches and Records of the John & Susannah (SPENCER) OLIN Family, and I am sorry. I looked back and realized that I started slacking after I got laid-off earlier this year. I also decided to launch the SoCal OLIN Family Social and that became my priority #1. I have resolved though that once the 1st Social happens I'll be able to pass the helm of next year's organizing efforts to interested SoCal OLINs, and I'll be able to return to the creation of the OLIN online biography book.

Fish Fest '09 (HB #37)

This past Saturday, my elder two boys and I made a trek south to Fish Fest, a Christian concert down in Irvine, CA. We were guests of Mr. Benjamin OLIN (see HB #29), the lead singer of the Christian rock band This Beautiful Republic. The Band was great! It wasn't my typical brand of music but I really, really liked it.

John Coleman Olin

Just located the death certificate for John Coleman Olin (John-Joseph-Joseph-Joseph-Caleb-John Coleman Olin) in Clare County, Surrey Township, Michigan. The online copy is blury and I've order a copy. He passed 8 Sept. 1899 at the age of 80 years, 7 months and 23 days, less than a year after he remarried. Anyone have an idea where the middle name Coleman came from?

Historian's Blog #36 - Vegas Reunion

My son Jake and I made a day-trip to Vegas for the reunion of the John-John-John-Henry-Henry-Thomas-Willard OLIN Branch of the family.
They were very welcoming. The games were fun and the food was yummy. I got to show off my collection, including stuff I couldn't bring to the Kennewick Reunion. We had a great time!

HB #35 - Robert Olin NILES Chapel of the Four Orphans

The Methodist Home for Children has honored its retiring chairman by renaming the chapel in the main building the Robert Olin Niles Chapel of the Four Orphans. John-John-Gideon-John-Patience-Algernon-Alice-Algernon-Charles-Robert "Bob" Olin NILES has been chairman of MHC since 2001. Before that, he was chairman of what is now Methodist Services for Children and Families, one of MHC’s affiliated organizations.
